What support do researchers need to store, organise and share their data? And how can your organisation help? These questions will be answered in this online course. We will explain how to develop data management services to improve research in your organisation. These services help researchers find, analyse, store and share data. The course is developed by the Digital Curation Centre and Research Data Netherlands. We each deliver data management services at an institutional and national level and will share our experience with you.

  • What research support services are commonly offered and who is responsible for providing them?
  • How to perform your own gap analysis and what tools you will need to make it happen
  • How to support researchers to develop Data Management Plans (DMPs) and offer feedback or consultations

  • Develop and build a community that will collectively support each other in the provision of services to support and encourage researchers in data management and sharing best practice, and through this spur innovation and growth
  • Engage with RDNL (NL) and DCC (UK), to provide learners with guidance and training of international remit that can be applied in various contexts, crossing national borders and industries

Who is the course for?

This course is for individuals that support researchers to manage and share their data, including librarians, IT and information specialists, data stewards, and research office staff.

Who will you learn with?

Alex has an MSc in Developmental Linguistics, and 3 years of experience as an RA in speech & language processing. She now provides project support for the Digital Curation Centre.

Sarah has over a decade of experience in research data management and open science. She is involved in many international initiatives such as the European Open Science Cloud & Research Data Alliance.

Senior project manager at DANS (NL). Involved in EU projects that work on the implementation of the "European Open Science Cloud".

Ryan is a Research Data Specialist at the Digital Curation Centre and has an academic background in the humanities. At the DCC, he is involved in a number EU research projects focused on EOSC.

I am a Trainer on Research Data Management and Open Science at TU Delft and 4TU.ResearchData. My backround is in research and I have a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics.

Venkat has a background in biology, imaging and repositories and gained expertise in RDM. He then became the lead trainer at the DCC and is currently the Training Officer for OpenAIRE.
