Using Twitter with LinkedIn
You will notice that at the bottom of each section on LinkedIn, you can add pictures, videos, documents, etc. You don’t need to do it for each section, but it might help you showcase certain skills. For example, you can add a photograph of your team if you want to emphasise that you are a team player, or you can upload a video from a ceremony at which you collected an award.
You can share different articles or blog post to your news feed. Most of the blog platforms have a share button for LinkedIn, as well as other social media websites. If the article you want to share doesn’t have a share button for LinkedIn, you can always add it as a link. Your connections will get updates about your activity.
You can also add your Twitter account to your LinkedIn profile. This not only provides a link for your connections to see your Twitter profile, but also updates any status you post on LinkedIn to your Twitter account. You can do that by clicking on Privacy & Settings, then choosing the Profile tab. You will see the section Manage your Twitter settings. Then click on Add your Twitter account and enter your Twitter username and password.
The use of hashtags on LinkedIn is not as popular as the other social media platforms. They have, however, become an important part of the way we communicate on social media. Use them to your advantage, but do not overuse them. Choose carefully which keywords you want to bring attention to. If you get them right, they might increase your profile views and make you more searchable. It is, of course, entirely up to you whether you use Twitter or not; those who already have a Twitter 'presence' may feel more secure in using this medium, while others may not. It's up to you.
