Skip to 0 minutes and 7 secondsThis week, you have learned how European nation states have changed due to European integration. You're now able to identify successes and challenges that are attached to transformation of European states. You have enhanced your problem solving competences by developing innovative policy proposals to ongoing political challenges in Europe. Next week, we will examine what happens to democracy in the context of this transformation of statehood in Europe.

Summary and preview

Dr Senka Neuman-Stanivukovic summarises this week’s discussions on European integration and the nation-state. We’ve seen how the EU has transformed the role of the nation-state and discussed how to respond to present challenges.

Next week, we’ll be looking into democracy and Europe. Dr Stefan Couperus, whom you already saw last week, will present the principles of our democratic systems. Professor Zdzislaw Mach from Jagiellonian University Krakow will then discuss the challenges of democracy in Europe and on the European level.
