On this two week-course from the Creative Computing Institute at UAL, you’ll explore the evolving field of creative AI. From AI generated imagery to data-driven artwork, you’ll learn how new technologies have inspired makers across the creative sector.

    Understanding AI

    • Introduction

      In these steps, you will find out what you will be exploring through the week, and uncover some of the facts and fiction surrounding AI.

    • What is AI?

      Let’s look at some common definitions of AI, and begin to explore how AI is being used in the creative industries.

    • What impact is creative AI having?

      In these steps we meet some of the artists using AI creatively, and explore the impact that AI technologies are having on their work and on the creative industries as a whole.

    • How can you make new media with AI systems?

      In these steps we will examine what it means to create a ‘new’ work of art and how this concept of ‘newness’ is explored in the context of creative AI.

  • Week 2

    Applying AI

    • Welcome back

      In these steps you will find out what you will be learning in the second week of the course.

    • How do artists use deep learning systems?

      In these steps, you will explore how artists use deep learning systems creatively and how these systems shape their work.

    • How are AI systems developed?

      In these steps, you’ll meet other practitioners working with deep learning and see how they are using it to encourage creativity.

    • Facing the future: careers in this area

      In this activity, you will find out more about working in creative AI, hear from artists currently working in the field and explore the different paths open to anyone interested in forging a career in this area.
