Learn how to discuss your education, work, and daily life in the Irish language

Building upon Irish 201, this course is an opportunity to further your Irish language learning and explore Irish culture and tradition more fully.

You’ll learn how to talk about your daily schedule, education and work. You’ll listen to and read Irish text related to these themes and study the relevant aspects of Irish grammar. You’ll also discover Irish mythology through various mediums, including storytelling and song.

By the end of this course, you will have developed your speaking, listening and writing abilities in Irish and have a greater understanding of traditional Irish culture.

What topics will you cover?

  • Continue with the series of courses working towards B1 CEFR competency in Irish.
  • Learn how to discuss one’s daily routine, such as house-work and daily responsibilities. Enquire about a person’s schedule.
  • Learn how to describe one’s educational background, such as school/college subjects and courses undertaken with FutureLearn. Discuss one’s qualifications and opinions regarding education.
  • Learn how to talk about one’s occupation in Irish. Discuss one’s employment status, daily work schedule and job details. Enquire about another’s occupation.
  • Learn how to describe and discuss one’s ideal occupation, qualifications required and how to apply for said occupation. Enquire about another’s ideal job.
  • Engage and discover different aspects of Irish grammar specific to the components of the course.
  • Review elements which have been learned over the previous weeks.
  • Course related Irish mythology, poetry, music and song.

This course is for adult elementary language learners working towards an intermediate level of Irish, and anyone who wants to continue to learn the basics of Irish and the culture associated with it.
