Skip to 0 minutes and 1 secondWe have in Germany perhaps one of the best health systems in the world, - if you look at the quality of our hospitals, if you look at the quality of our diagnostic equipment and of the training of our staff. But this health system is not appropriate to deal with this special type of patients. We have the problem that communication, cultural barriers, - but mainly the regulations of the system -prevent access to health care for many people who are in urgent need. So, as health workers dealing with migrants, dealing with asylum seekers, dealing with refugees, we have to be ....realize that the system cannot be relied upon.

Skip to 0 minutes and 52 secondsThere are so many shortages in the system actually, that it is up to us to do the best for our patients. We cannot rely on the health care system of the authorities to work properly; we have to do it ourselves. And we as health care workers; we have to go this last mile to achieve health equity.

End of week reflection
