Explore the drug creation process, from discovery to drug development

Modern medicine is constantly seeking cures and treatments for diseases, illnesses, and ailments that can improve quality of life. This means that new drugs are constantly being created, tested, and developed.

On this course, you’ll examine the drug development process, from discovery to manufacturing and regulation. You’ll also learn about pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics to understand how drugs work in the body.

Learn about OTC medication with regards to self-care, dosage, and administration

Administering over-the-counter (OTC) medication is a key duty fulfilled by pharmacists, which carries a great responsibility.

You’ll explore how pharmacists educate and advise patients to ensure the appropriate use of medication to treat ailments and engage in self-medication. In learning how pharmacists assist patients in self-care, you’ll understand the important role that pharmacists play in uplifting the health of their communities.

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for aspiring pharmacy students, pharmacy undergraduates, allied-health care postgraduates and professionals, and those interested in learning more about pharmacy.

Who will you learn with?

Dr. Heh Choon Han has been working in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department since 2014. Computer-aided Drug Discovery and Design is his main research interest.

I am a pharmacist and an educator at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya. My area of research interest is quality use of medicines and medication safety especially in geriatrics and psychiatry.

A committed and dedicated professional with a proven ability to teach, motivate and direct students to maximum performance by encouraging a positive and energetic environment.

Shaik is a Senior Lecturer at the Universiti Malaya with over 20 years of teaching and research experience. He specialises in excipient, formulation development for targeted drug delivery of medicines

Dr. Nur Akmarina is a pharmacist who developed a keen interest in molecular cancer biology to specifically improve treatment outcome. She obtained her PhD from Monash University, Australia.

Dr Amira is a qualified pharmacist, with a passion to teach physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology. She obtained her PhD from University of Oxford.
