Exploring food production

Watch teachers and pupils talk about growing vegetables, understanding crop life cycles and the resulting value that children attach to their food.

As more and more of the world’s population live in cities, it becomes increasingly important to re-connect with where our food comes from. Watch the children taking part in sowing seeds and bulbs for onions and garlic and listen to their teachers describe the benefits of this learning. You’ll also hear about a visit to a nearby orchard where the children are encouraged to observe the apple trees in all seasons before harvesting the fruit and pressing it to produce their own apple juice.
