Equitable practice is a social-justice approach to teaching, learning and facilitation that aims to challenge and transform unequal, dominant relations of power and privilege.

The Making Spaces research has focused particularly on investigating the extent to which equitable practice within makerspaces can support equitable youth outcomes for diverse young people across the globe.

In our research, we have found that when equity is mainstreamed and embedded in professional practice, it can be a powerful force for positive change.

This objective forms the basis of the 3-STEP approach.

We believe that through this approach you can enable all young people (particularly from marginalised communities) to flourish in your makerspace!
