Downloading SRTM data

A practical demonstration of how to download SRTM elevation data.
We are going to be working with SRTM DEM data, first we need to download it!

SRTM data can be downloaded from the EarthExplorer website, where we downloaded Landsat imagery last week.

  • 1) Navigate to EarthExplorer on your browser and make sure you are logged in.
  • 2) Select your area of interest.
If you need a reminder on how to do these steps, have a look at the Landsat instructions in Week 3.
  • 3) Click the Data Sets » button.
