Your Key Technology

In a way the basic workflow in a continuous environment is similar to that of a standard workflow, in that we still have to complete all the steps that we have in a more traditional workflow.

This means that core technology is also similar in that the workflow still utilizes CAT tools, and it is still necessary to extract content from the code in order to translate it in the CAT tool. Content is translated either by human translators or machine translation, depending on the type of content and development stage. The technology and processes also allow for quality checks and review stages. Once the translations are completed, they still need to be placed back into code and a new build needs to be generated.

However, with shorter turnaround times the technology stack has to support a higher degree of automation just as the processes do. This is primarily achieved through four types of technology:

1. the translation technology stack, which you are already familiar with from previous lessons in this course;
2. automated testing technology, which is part of development and DevOps;
3. code integration and build creation technology, which is also part of development and DevOps;
4. technology that connects different stages, such as APIs and web hooks.
