Accept assignment and getting it marked

In this video, Dr Wang will show you how to accept the assignment, complete it in VSCode, and submit it for marks and feedback.

In this video, we discuss how to complete a simple exercise, i.e., printing “Hello world”. This example will help you familiarize how to accept, complete, and submit an exercise.

To be more specific, you will learn

  • accepting an exercise: Clicking the Github Classroom link provided in each exercise steps will direct you to GitHub Classroom. It will then launch the VS Code to fetch the files needed to complete the homework.
  • completing an exercise: One then writes the necessary codes in the main.py file to achieve the desired goal of the task.
  • submitting an exercise: After completion, one synchronises the files to GitHub Classroom, which will auto-grade your attempt and return the results.

An alternative way to submit homework

For some technical issues, collecting and submitting homework via VSCode may not be successful sometime. If you consistently bump into this issue, we provide an alternative way as follows. This approach is also suitable for users who use IDE other than VSCode and are experienced with Git.

To this end, instead of installing VS code, you need to install the GitHub Desktop and log into your account. Once you have accepted your homework, you are offered the link to the homework.
