Welcome to week 2 of the course. So far, we have learnt about the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and resistance as well as the classification, structure and roles of various microbes.

This week will focus on introducing antimicrobials, identifying their mechanisms of actions and discussing common antibiotics that are in use. We will then learn more about the properties of antimicrobials such as bacteriostatic/bactericidal drugs, pharmacokinetics, the spectrum of activity and finally therapeutic drug monitoring.
