Dana Clark explains what this course is about, and how you can create a career that aligns with your passion for ocean sustainability.

Welcome to the course!

The ocean is the source of all life on earth. It holds the keys to an equitable and sustainable planet. Building a sustainable ocean is one of humanity’s most essential tasks and presents significant opportunities to achieve a globally sustainable future.

In this course, you will learn about the Blue Economy, why it matters and how your interests and strengths can guide your path to a career that helps your future, and our oceans. This alignment of cause and career can be called the ‘Blue Tomorrow’.

Course learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Summarise what the Blue Economy is and why it is important
  • Investigate which blue economy sectors that you are interested in
  • Explore a taster of learning aquaculture in New Zealand

How to get the most out of this course

  • Explore at your own pace

At each step, we offer a selection of current projects, case studies and career profiles that might be of interest to you. You can investigate as many of the provided options as you are interested in, but you don’t have to read them all.
  • Engage with your peers
You can also learn a lot from others on the course, so use the comments section at the bottom of each page to interact with others, ask questions, or see what other interesting examples others have recommended.
  • Take time to reflect
Each week, you will answer several guiding questions to help you reflect on your work and goals, reflect on your learning, self-assess your interests and competencies, and outline an action plan for learning and career pathways.

Help shape the future

Blue Tomorrow is on a mission to connect purpose-led people to the blue economy’s ocean of opportunity, helping to create a future that generations will thrive in. This is a pilot course, at the end, we will seek your feedback to help shape the future of learning with purpose.

Top tip: Open links and external resources in a new tab
