SVEA CLOSSER: Hi. My name is Svea Closser, and I’m an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Welcome to the module on building global alliances in public health. In this lecture, we’ll explore the history of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, the first major partnership in global public health and the model for many partnerships that followed. We’ll explore the challenges and the promise of collaboration between UN agencies, private organizations, and governments in pursuit of a global goal.
