What are the benefits of having a professional network?

  • You can learn about organisations and opportunities
  • It gives you an opportunity to create value for others and to connect people

What does it look like?

  • An active online LinkedIn network (and I do try to restrict it to people I have actually met or interacted with, and expand it with people I meet and want to keep in touch with),
  • People I know and interact with at work or as part of my work (who might also be a LinkedIn connection),
  • Previous work colleagues
  • People I have met with at networking events, e.g. Chamber of Commerce, Business Women’s groups, Conferences
