The European Commission presented the Renovation Wave Strategy in October 2020, setting out measures aiming to at least double the annual energy renovation rate of EU buildings by 2030. The revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is a core element of the Renovation Wave Strategy, upgrading the existing regulatory framework and considering the differences in the building sector among the EU Member States.
