In recognition of the important role that the UAE’s youth plays in the country’s future, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice Presider of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, created the position of Minister of State for Youth Affairs in 2016.

This is a post filled by one of the youngest ministers in the world, who has launched several initiatives to enhance youth national identity and belonging.

Out of the Ministry of Youth, the UAE has a range of Youth Councils, including the Arab Youth Council for Climate Change (AYCCC). The AYCCC will play a key role in supporting the UAE in hosting COP28.
