Welcome to Week 5
Last week we learnt the Earth’s climate is determined by the balance between energy absorbed and energy emitted. This week, we’ll explore the consequences of this balance – bringing extreme weather such as hurricanes, cyclones and monsoon to the tropics.
We’ll also return to the University of Reading lab where Pete simulated the effect of the Coriolis force. This time, Pete will use a tank of water and colour dyes to demonstrate how individual weather systems can develop.
We’ll finish the week by listing useful resources for continuing your learning beyond the course.
