Strategic Sustainability and Operational Initiatives in Small and Medium-Sized Manufacturers: An Empirical Analysis

The strategies and operational plans for sustainable use for small and medium-sized manufacturers.
This study examined the impact of product modularity and supply chain visibility on sustainability and operational initiatives in small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms in Pakistan.

Results revealed that operational and sustainability performance both improve when sustainable practices are implemented. Supply chain and technological pressure positively impact sustainable practices. Product modularity moderates the relationships among supply chain pressure, technological pressure, sustainable practices, operational performance, and sustainability performance. Supply chain visibility has a positive moderating effect on the relationships from sustainable practices to operational and sustainability performance. However, visibility did not significantly moderate the impact of supply chain and technological pressure on sustainable practices.
