Three Elements

Three elements video introduction
2
So there are three elements that we’re going to cover. First one is explaining some of the physiology, which I’m calling amygdala hijack, which I find the title really fascinating. And it’s a way of helping you to understand what’s going on in terms of the physiology. I absolutely know you’ll be familiar with fight and flight, but this just helps to explain it in a different way and give you some more self-awareness of what is happening when we are in situations where we feel under threat, and your survival. The second element will be around meeting emotions. And that’s about some awareness of how we’re feeling, that it’s OK to feel certain emotions, like fear or sadness, frustration, et cetera.

And there’s a model that we’ll go through to help you with that. And thirdly, we’re going to look at self-compassion, the notion that you will be familiar with in the aeroplane safety brief. So we start with, you put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others. And again, there are a number of really helpful, lovely exercises to guide you through that.

This video provides an outline of the three elements of self-care and staff well-being:

  • Meeting Emotions: Sharing Our Fear
  • Self-Compassion and Self-Care
