Week 4 review

A brief summary and review of Week 4 of the course Deep Learning for Bioscientists, Classification and Regression
Congratulations on completing Week 4 of the course, and thanks for sticking with the course so far.

You should know be familiar with some of the standard CNN architectures, and have some idea how to adapt and use them to solve both classification and regression tasks.

In this week we have covered:

  • common encoder architectures, including:
    • LeNet
    • Alexnet
    • VGG
    • Google inception
    • ResNet
  • making a image classifier using a custom Dataset – with the Oxford Flower data
  • making a regression model using a similar network and some of the same data.

Next week, we will look at some spatial approaches to deep learning via encoder-decoder architectures, including image segmentation and heat-map regression.
