Welcome to week one of the Decentralised Finance: Blockchain, Ethereum, and The Future of Banking course. This week we will focus on demystifying the world of DeFi. Over the course of this week, we will:
- explore cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology that supports them
- introduce smart contracts and discuss their role in DeFi
- discuss the significant role that DeFi is playing in finance
- introduce you to the culture and community that supports DeFi
Upon completion of week one, you should better be able to:
- define key DeFi terms
- describe cryptocurrency and its blockchain foundation
- explain the role of smart contracts in DeFi
- differentiate DeFi from traditional, centralised finance (CeFi)
