Week 2 Introduction

Introduction to roman food distribution and roman diet
A mosaic of a Roman banquet
This week you will learn how the Roman food production and distribution were organised.

You will also learn why the Roman diet was so rich and diverse compared to that after the End of the Empire: due to economic but also environmental causes. Changes in diet had enormous consequences for human health and they are also linked to the spread of epidemics.

We will learn how these different aspects can be analysed today, thanks to the development of multidisciplinary innovative analysis.
