The challenges of evaluation in the cultural sector

In this video, you will hear what challenges practitioners and evaluators face with evaluation in the cultural sector.

In this video, we asked some practitioners and evaluators what challenges they face with evaluation in the cultural sector.

Why and how do cultural practitioners and organisations struggle with evaluation?

In this video you’ll hear several practitioners from across the UK discuss their challenges and aspirations regarding their evaluation practice. Annie Raw discusses how frustrating evaluation can be when it seems as though it is tokenistic and evaluators feel disempowered. Nicky Goulder highlights how a people-centred approach can inform organisational learning. Ruth Sapsed suggests that methods that only try to measure don’t really capture the holistic value and impact of arts and cultural activity. Ruth shares an example to illustrate how a more holistic approach to evaluation can be deeper and more stimulating for everyone involved.
