Introduction to Week 1

tbc
Now that we’ve introduced the course and ourselves, let’s look at what you will be learning in Week 1.

In this first week, we’ll be introducing you to vehicle-to-grid charging (V2G), along with the wider energy system in which it operates. You’ll learn how V2G came about and why it matters now, as well as the key language and terms that you will need to know throughout this course. You will then move on to look at the electrical design for V2G, covering how both AC and DC V2G works, and how V2G systems are controlled. Finally, you will learn what V2G can do, and the main use cases for V2G.

By the end of this week, you should be able to clearly explain what V2G is, why it matters and what’s been driving its development. You will also be able to talk at a high level about how it works technically.

We’ve already used a few different acronyms before we’ve even got started. So to make your life easier, and to help you get the most from the course, we’ve created a Glossary of Terms. This includes all the acronyms throughout the whole course, along with a definition of what each one means. You can find this in the ‘Downloads’ section below.
