What’s in a course?

Why do you need to do an application task?
© UCLES 2018

In the quiz in the previous step we showed you some examples of the types of questions which are included in pre-course tasks for TEFL courses.

There were questions about grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and this question: Which of the following would you teach a class of beginners in their first lesson?

  • Why were these types of questions chosen?
  • Why do you think centres which run teacher training courses ask applicants to do tasks like these?
  • What other things do centres look for in applicants for courses?
  • Write your answers to these questions in the comments section and read other learners’ answers. We’ll talk about this in the end of week video.
