What Is TUMI?

What is TUMI? What is the TUMI initiative?

We invite you to play this video and discover the essence of the TUMI initiative!

TUMI supports transport projects all around the world and enables policy makers to transform urban mobility towards more sustainability. With TUMI, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supports climate-friendly, inclusive, safe and affordable mobility in cities. TUMI is funded by BMZ and implemented by GIZ in collaboration with all 11 TUMI partners.

The initiative supports innovative pilot projects worldwide and shares knowledge on modern mobility concepts with planners through workshops and conferences. TUMI also supports the construction and modernization of sustainable urban infrastructure.

TUMI and E-Mobility:

E-Mobility and renewable energy play a central role in the decarbonisation of the transport sector. That’s why E-Mobility is one of TUMI’s focus areas. For TUMI, E-Mobility is a key ingredient of sustainable mobility systems.

TUMI E-Bus Mission:

The TUMI E-Bus Mission aims to ensure the procurement readiness of 100,000 e-buses in its partner countries by 2025. Therefore TUMI is working in 20 deep dive cities and aims to inspire a network of 100 cities to achieve this goal.

E-Mobility Pilots:

In the pilot cities of Cuenca (Ecuador) and Lviv (Ukraine), TUMI supported both municipalities in developing integrated E-Mobility plans that were launched in 2023.

E-Mobility Knowledge:

TUMI offers a wide range of knowledge products to increase international expertise and advance E-Mobility in cities. To support our partners in overcoming the challenges of implementing E-Mobility solutions, TUMI produces and curates various publications, webinars, FAQs and online tools on all aspects of sustainable E-Mobility ecosystems. This online course will complement TUMI’s offerings.
