Welcome

Welcome to the Game Psychology course.

Welcome to the course from the Communication University of China. I am Professor Chen Jingwei and I have taught game psychology courses to students majoring in game design for over a decade.

Those of you joining this course might be seasoned gamers or game developers, but I believe what unites us is a deep love for games. The games we play may made by different countries and developers with other cultures, yet these differences seldom impede our enjoyment of the beauty and joy that games bring. Games can transcend language and culture because they are not merely cultural products; they are also products that resonate with our psychology and fulfill our needs.

This course is not extensive, but we have selected content that is representative and suitable for learners from various academic backgrounds, drawn from a vast body of Game Design and Psychology. We hope that this course will address some of the questions you’ve noticed and wished to ponder upon while gaming. We also welcome your participation in discussions with us about great games.

OK, let’s go.
