ULaw Crime Scene Suite

ULaw Crime Scene Suite

Hello and welcome to the University of Law. This is our Bloomsbury campus, my name is Jen. I’m the Program Lead for the policing degree. I am a former officer but also have an academic background in criminology and forensic investigative psychology. What you see here is the crime scene sway that we use for a policing degree, which is the pre-joined degree and professional policing. Basically, what’s happening at the moment in policing is there’s a transformation happening, and we’re going from it being a purely class-based discipline to a healthy blend of academic and knowledge-based learning, as well as the hands-on craft-based vocational elements.

Because of that is extremely important, that you not only sit in the classroom and listen to experienced solicitors, social scientists, and former police officers, but that you also have hands-on experience and this is what we use the crime scene suite for. You have police instructors that will demonstrate role-plays. You will take part in role-plays yourself, and therefore develop your expertise as you go through the course. Studies have shown that the person has the most impact on the new constable is the tutor. Therefore, the opportunity to in a safe learning environment, make mistakes and watch experts is invaluable in terms of developing you into the best police officer that you can possibly be.

I look forward to welcoming you to the policing degree at the University of Law.
