Activity 3: Overview

In this activity we will explore how artificial intelligence can be used in the workplace to make work more efficient, more accurate and to produce documents and communications with a consistent look and feel. This is using artificial intelligence as an assistive technology.

We will also look at a set of case studies looking at workers in different roles use AI in day to day tasks, and how they are using assistive artificial intelligence tools to support their work. Our case studies will be introduce you to:

• Martha – an office worker who works in the copy writing sector which has been transformed by tools such as ChatGPT and other generative large language models.
• Hafsa – a office worker who works as a software developer. Software development has been a massive increase in the use of assistive tools to increase productivity.
• Jamie – a factory worker working along side automated factory systems to increase throughput.
