Welcome to Week 1

The context and impact of parental mental illness

This week you will be learning more about the issue of parental mental illness and its impact on young people.

We will firstly begin to understand the context and scale of the issue of parental mental illness before moving on to hearing a first hand account from a young person, Hannah, who tells us how this issue has affected her life.

We will examine the different factors that can contribute towards a person developing a mental illness and how we as professionals may be able to intervene in order to prevent these issues from escalating.

We hope you enjoy this week’s learning. Please feel free to keep sharing your thoughts and ideas with other learners using the comments section.
