Welcome to the third and final week of this course. This week we will look at one of the most exciting applications

of deep learning and computer vision: self-driving cars and other systems that try to act autonomously in real world environments. We’ll begin by seeing how the methods you’ve learnt about in the past two weeks can be used to train a car to drive - at least to some extent! Then we’ll explore how we can give autonomous systems richer knowledge of their environments by fusing information from multiple sensors and not just relying on vision. Finally, we’ll consider safety. At what point would we consider these systems safe enough to carry real passengers? How can we be sure they will continue to perform safely when left to run in the real world? And who’s at fault when they go wrong?
