Key expressions 2

The second expression we’ll be learning today is “정말 피곤하겠어요(You must be very tired.)”

When expressing empathy towards other people’s feelings in Korean, we use the phrase ‘-겠어요.’ This phrase is typically used with adjectives or verbs, and we use “-겠어요” regardless of whether the adjectives or verbs have final consonants (기분 좋다 = feeling good/in a good mood, 즐겁다 = fun/joyful) or not (기분 나쁘다 = feel terrible/in a bad mood, 짜증나다 = “annoyed”).

Now, let’s try expressing empathy.

Example
  • 저 어제 밤 11시까지 야근했어요.
    => 정말 힘들겠어요.

  • 어제 컴퓨터가 고장나서 과제를 못 했어요.
    => 짜증나겠어요.
