In this week, we learned ‘Verb-(으)려고’ which is used to describe the purpose. There is a similar grammar called ‘Verb-기 위해서’.

‘Verb-기 위해서’

‘Verb-기 위해서’ is also an expression used to describe the purpose and can be used in exchange for ‘Verb-(으)려고’. This grammar is used in conjunction with a verb, and both verbs with or without consonants are used as ‘-기 위해서’.

1) 여행을 가기 위해서 돈을 모아요.

2) 발표하기 위해서 자료를 만들어요.

3) k-pop 댄스 대회에 나가기 위해서 준비하고 있어요.

4) 한국 회사에 취직하기 위해서 한국에 유학을 왔어요.
