Course Outline

An article describing what learners can expect from this course
Ok. So, here’s how the course is structured:

Week 1: The first week focuses on the main problems we encounter as actors as well as how to think about them. We will also talk about how we can approach our work in a creative way and where to put our focus. By the end of this week, I hope you will have identified some of the basic principles of acting.

Week 2: In the second week we will look at the dramatic situation and how we can break it down and work with its components. You will reflect on the work of other actors, apply what you’ve learned on a scene from a play and discuss how to work with the principles presented earlier in the course.

Week 3: The third week will be all about building a performance and getting on stage. You will add the written text and learn how to think about it. You will also investigate how you can approach your acting in a structured way and explore some key elements to a relaxed and spontaneous performance.

Each week contains an exercise that you will be working on throughout the course in which you will be asked to apply the concepts that you’ve learnt during the week on a material of your own choosing. Please note that the feedback on the course and its exercises will not be personal.

You will also be encouraged to think about these things when you watch other actors in TV-shows or movies or on stage. There are also many opportunities for you to engage with the course content, where you will be able to discuss and share your journey and experiences with your fellow students.
