Motion feature extraction

What are the parameters of the motion features how to extract them?In this article, Dr Ming Yan discusses his recent research.”
A video data is different from a series of arbitrary pictures that are simply stacked along the time axis. The images composing the video have strong correlation on the time axis. By making full use of this correlation, the video data can be better compressed or retrieved. Motion vector is an estimate of the projection change on the 2D image plane caused by the motion of the object or camera in the 3D scene. Motion vector estimation plays an important role in computer vision and video compression.

The correlation technique based on block matching is the most intuitive and widely used method for computing motion vectors from video sequences, and it is also used in MPEG video compression standard.
