This week we outline the problem that is the carbon footprint of healthcare. How our daily decision of what anaesthetic we use impacts global warming. We introduce the concept of Life Cycle Analysis which allows us to make direct comparison between the different volatile agents and a propofol maintained anaesthetic. We then explain different steps that can be taken within theatre to move towards are more environmentally conscious approach.
