Design Thinking has evolved and morphed into many things since its introduction in the early 1960s.

If you Google the term, you will probably end up with an overwhelming amount of information and far too many versions of the same ‘design process’ diagram in front of you.

The role of the designer carries a lot of responsibility. Whether this is for designing services, systems, apps, products or spaces, the designer’s aim is to create something that impacts people, the economy and the environment. This is a lot to consider, and creating something that will holistically solve the problem at hand, while also being effective, innovative and future-proof can seem like a daunting task. The Design Thinking Process acts as a guide for designers and, if followed, is a great step toward designing something that ticks all the boxes.

The best way to learn how the Design Thinking Process works is to just do it. This Short Course is all about getting active. So, during this course you will go through a set of exercises to experience a rapid design thinking process.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the design thinking process, examine the components of each step and explore its evolution.
