What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI). The very phrase conjures up futuristic images.

Maybe it’s a sultry-voiced phone operating system you could practically fall in love with, or maybe it’s an unstoppable robot sent back from the future to assassinate a soon to be mother. Or maybe it’s nothing so fantastical. Maybe it’s being able to return home on a cold, dark night to find the lights on and the house heated—a welcoming, comforting sight. No matter how you imagine artificial intelligence, the fact is that the future is now. Both in the consumer and business worlds, AI is already being implemented in many ways, and the use of independently intelligent computer systems will only grow.
