The current impact of AI in marketplaces and the business world

PAUL WOODS: I think one of the biggest things that’s going to have an impact on society is artificial intelligence, when it comes to mobility and how we move around cities and countries and the application of AI into transportation, in particular, not just autonomous cars, which is probably example most people are familiar with, but autonomous trucks and other vehicles, like aircraft, they’ll absolutely improve safety for people, but also improve the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics chains around the world.
So, from that point of view, I think we’ve got a great opportunity ahead of us to improve our impact, improve the impact on the environment and prevent act on individuals and people’s lives and kind of redefine how we think about cities, in general, to create better spaces for us to live.
Weaponized artificial intelligence in the wrong hands or, you know, in an unregulated or unrestrained way will absolutely have an impact on people’s lives around the world. We may be sheltered from it here in Australia, but we don’t know what the world’s gonna be like in 15 or 20 or 30 years time. So, I think about my children and the world that I grew up in, I think there’s going to be combat and warfare is absolutely going to change, because of this technology.
And that might make it safer for civilians, but it might also mean that it’s a lot worse for civilians as well, which is a something that not quite losing sleep over at night now, but I think I’ll increasingly lose sleep over it in the future.
