This course outlined the history and evolution of data science. Next, it explored the different applications of data and how organisations are using data to support decision making. Advancements in technology have positively affected the growth of data science; however, this growth has also brought a set of challenges. This course outlined the best practices for managing these challenges. In the last decade, there has been an exponential growth in data science. Organisations have invested resources to uplift their data analytics teams, which in turn have created a requirement for the right skill set. Universities have developed data science courses in the last five years, but these are still in the early stages of development. Finally, there are many ethical dilemmas that the data industry is collectively trying to answer.
