Summary and review

A review of the content of Week 1 of the course Machine learning for image data
Congratulations on completing Week 1 of the course.

So far we have looked at many of the key concepts concerning datasets, and types of machine learning models you might encounter, as well as some of the surrounding terminology.

In particular we have considered:

  • image data and features
  • a classic classification problem and dataset – the Iris data
  • the concepts of supervised and unsupervised datasets
  • common tasks such as binary classification, multiclass classification, and regression
  • a look at some other terminology you will encounter in this course and elsewhere
  • software tools such as scikit-learn.

Next week we will look more closely at a vital step in any machine learning project, the handling and processing of data and features.
