Linear regression is possibly the most widely known machine learning technique.

Most of us are familiar with the idea of fitting a straight line though plotted data. In fact, this is just one example of linear regression. It can also be used with multiple explanatory variables, and even polynomial (squares and cubes of feature values) features, as we explain in this video.
