New model of medical humanities

New model of medical humanities
Welcome back to this class again! In last session, we just mentioned a doctor as a mediator for social change, which is a universal truth in our society. Now, we are going to express, in the coming future, doctors still keep such a kind of role in the modernization of postmodern part. With an aging population, long-term management health and the diseases can no longer be the responsibility solely of the doctors, and the patients must take responsibility for his own health. Therefore, doctors must be the mediators for a change in the relationship again. So… now we want to advance such kind of community engagement to apply service learning in order to foster the user and the server group interactions. So…
in the information society with the support of from idea related to smart technologies, we wish end users become active participants, not only for users but also for innovations. Just like all experience happened in the past in healthcare arena. Along the line, we can see community as the driving force for building a health city that allow aging-in-place. So… This course will present a model for community-oriented curriculum design, illustrate medical humanities as new intellectual movements in Taiwan and the US, as well as demonstrate platform for Living Lab experiments using smart technology in tribal areas of Taiwan. So… this course will bring a brand new vision for the future.
First, These communities featuring “living labs” can formulate the knowledge architecture for idea of benefit sharing and sustainable urban or regional planning. We propose, community-based ethical governance framework for fostering genomic medicine and smart living technology. In a sense, we call a bottom up reform for a new biotechnology age, where we think that, biological revolution has overseen what we have accomplished in industrial revolution through hundred years, but the challenge is evenenormous. So… a greater momentum from all participants from all conscious citizenship is realy important. And then, professionalism. A new sense of professionalism should be a mediator to forge, to take a powerful with approach, to nurture such a kind of new conscious of global citizenship.
And we think these efforts are expected to advanced professionalism in health arena as well as consolidate civil society for tomorrow. So… this is an introduciton of these course and if you have any questions, please responds on the website. Thank you very much!!

The Doctor-patient relationship is changing from time to time.

In the information age, doctors are no longer the only knowledge sources of healthcare. Patient participation and engagement have become more important.

In this video, I would like to introduce the usage of the “power with approach,” in order to build a new model of medical humanities. Please see the ‘See also’ links below for further explanation of this “power with” ideology.

I would like to know if you have any experience or comments on building new models of medical humanities in your context.
