Why caloric restriction can prolong the lifespan?
Because the several mechanisms as follows: increase DNA repellent decrease oxidative damage and increase body’s own antioxidant defense system. Especially can increase heat shock proteins response. I just mentioned before superoxide dismutase also is very important enzymes for inter oxidant defense systems. So, other than superoxide dismutase protein families also one of their antioxidant defense systems in our body. Calorie restriction also can decrease glycosylation. Delays age-related immunological decline most likely not going to die from heart attack stroke or diabetes if you have calorie restriction. The following I will mention what is the healthy diet. Especially for preventing the aging process. You can see the figures shows the pyramid. They have several layers and the bottom layers is water.
so you can see water consumption is very important for your healthy life. So, you can consume more than eight servings of water consumption per day. The second layersis bread, fortified, cereals, rice and pizza or a pasta group. That means you have grains. but they specify fortify grants. What is the fortify grains? That means you fortify some of the nutrients in the grains. For example, vitamin D or other nutrients which the elderly people may lack of so you can fortify these nutrients into the grains. The third there is vegetable and fruit groups. So vegetable food groups is also very important for your healthy life, a healthy diet.
So you have to eat more than three servings of vegetables and more than two servings of a fruit every day. The fourth layer as milk, yogurt, and cheese group. That means our dairy products and also meat, poultry, fish and other protein containing foods. For example, egg or other protein containing foods. So you can see those foods you can consume less than vegetables, fruits and grains and waters. On the top of the pyramid you can see there is fat, oils and sweet. Thus, you use those fat, oil or sweet sparingly, not too much. And on top of the pyramid there’s a flag. What is the flag indicate? The flag indicates Calcium, Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 supplements.
Why those nutrients are very important for the elderly, especially for those above seventy years old? That means because the elderly has less physical activity every day so they cannot have enough sunshine. Enough sunshine cane produce vitamin D from the skin. If we cannot produce or we can not have enough vitamin D intake from the diet, that means cannot stimulate Calcium absorption from the body. So if you have the vitamin D deficiency, simultaneously, you probably can have the Calcium deficiency. So Calcium and Vitamin D are very important for your health. How about vitamin B12? Vitamin B12 is existed in animal foods.
If because most of animal foods, the texture of the animal foods are very hard, so for the elderly they probably have not enough teeth strength can chew those hard food as the animal foods. So they probably lack of Vitamin B12. So that’s why we recommend you can have the supplements of Calcium Vitamin D and Vitamin B12.
