Offshore wind farms are huge infrastructure projects – that means they are huge engineering and design challenges!

In the full Offshore Wind Learning module ‘Project design and engineering’, we explore how engineering underpins the design of an offshore wind farm, looking in detail at the technological solutions developed to date. We cover important concepts such as cost engineering, innovation and overall system design. Finally, we dedicate a whole lesson to the newly emerging floating wind sector, introducing the scale of the opportunity and the challenges involved. Throughout the module, students will have the opportunity to take a closer look at offshore wind turbine components with interactive 3D modules of turbines, foundations, and substations.
