A global opportunity

This map shows all the countries with the potential to host a vibrant offshore wind market in the darker blue colour. 

In total, there are 106 countries with offshore wind potential, spread throughout all continents. We can split these countries into the following categories:

maturing (delivering now),
near-term (delivering in the next 10 years) and
longer-term (delivering in the next 20 years).

Maturing countries include: Belgium, China, Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and United Kingdom.

Near-term countries include: Vietnam, India, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, USA Atlantic, Ireland, Poland, France and Sweden

Longer-term countries include: Colombia, Brazil, Philippines, USA Pacific, Turkey, Greece, Estonia, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Norway, Morocco, Argentina, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Latvia, Romania and Ukraine.

During this decade, China will be the largest installer by far and other countries with mature markets are increasing their 2030 delivery targets (e.g. UK 50GW, Germany 20GW).

Near-term countries will begin to establish themselves as large and attractive markets for the supply chain. This includes expanding the European, Latin American, East Coast USA and APAC regional markets.

As you can see there is a long list of countries in the longer-term group. Work is already well underway in these countries on policy formation and strategic planning.
