Sharing audio and video in your platform

Video tutorial on how to share audio and video.
8.7
If you’re going to play audio through your device and you want your students to hear that video, or if you’re going to play video through your device and your students watch that video, you do need to do something to make sure that students can hear and see it effectively. And that is that when you click on Share Screen, you’re going to share your screen, basically. So if it’s a website and you want to play a video on a website, or audio via a website, then you’re going to click on Share Screen. Or it could be that you bring it up on your computer, that’s OK, so click on Share Screen.

But before you do that, you need to go down here and you need to make sure that you click Share Sound and Optimise for video clip if it’s a video. If it’s just audio, you don’t need to worry, but if it’s a video clip, click on that. That means that it’ll play more effectively for learners to see and hear. This means that students will be able to hear the sound. Otherwise, all they’ll hear is the sound coming through your speakers, or coming through the microphone as it plays and it will be quite tinny and a little bit distant. So make sure you share your sound, whatever platform you use when you share your screen.

We’ve talked about sharing your screen. When you want to play audio or video on your device for learners to hear/watch, you may need to tick a button that allows you to do that when you share your screen.
