Appropriate handling of research data is an important prerequisite for making the data openly available. We talk about what research data is, what research data management is and why you should care. How we can find names for files that can be understood by third parties is a crucial question that will be discussed.

For the designation of metadata, 15 attributes are presented that provide good orientation for the designation. And finally, there are a few valuable tips for archiving data with regard to data formats and media.
